Trudeau defends appointment of special rapporteur on election interference, says opposition criticism ‘discredits serious issue’

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded to concerns regarding foreign interference in Canada’s elections on Wednesday during a visit to Winnipeg. Trudeau said opposition leader Pierre Poilievre’s “snarkiness” regarding foreign interference “doesn’t do him any credit and doesn’t do any credit to the attention needed to confront a serious issue.”
