Advance on settlement payment helps OKIB land purchase

A “first of its kind” federal payment to an Okanagan First Nation could mark a turning point in the way the Canadian government handles specific land claims across the country. As Megan Turcato reports, the Okanagan Indian Band says it will use the $30-million advance to pay for its purchase of former reserve land.
