Report details ‘ineffective’ response to rise in hate crime in B.C. during pandemic

The B.C. Human Rights Commissioner says both the government and the legal system were “ineffective” in responding to the rise in racism and hate during the COVID-19 pandemic. That conclusion followed a province-wide investigation — which also took a close look at how hateful rhetoric is being spread online. Emily Lazatin reports.
