A Toronto Toyota customer thought a $699 protection plan would be a smart investment considering the number of vehicles stolen in the GTA each year. But when his Highlander was stolen, Frank Taylor couldn’t collect a $5,000 payout promised under terms of the plan. He called the dealership, the manufacturer, and Ontario’s auto dealer regulator to get his money. For more than a year, he couldn’t get satisfaction. Then he called Consumer SOS. Sean O’Shea reports.
