A B.C. forestry company must pay more than $343,000 in fines for starting a 2016 wildfire. Tolko Industry initially won an appeal with the forest appeals commission deciding the company didn't intend to start the fire. However, a B.C. Supreme Court justice ruled the cost recovery fines will be upheld because a Tolko contractor intentionally lit the fire that contributed to the start of the wildfire.
