Manitoba beefs up policing power

Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson announced on Thursday the province will spend $3.2 million dollars to create an integrated violent offender apprehension unit. The funding allows law enforcement agencies like RCMP and Winnipeg Police to strengthen bail and probation supervision strategies for high-risk offenders. She added that projects like this, in addition to boosted support for addictions and mental health, will help keep communities safer.
