CUPE’s Laura Walton said Monday that the union would provide “financial support” for any members who join the protest on Friday and walk off the job despite the Ontario government tabling legislation to impose contracts and ban an education worker strike. She said members could face fines as a result of the labour action but she said for some education workers, the strike pay received will be more than the hourly wage received from their employers.
