Health Canada has given the green light to Moderna’s bivalent COVID-19 vaccine, making it the first vaccine specifically targeting the Omicron variant to get approval for the Canadian market. Health Canada’s chief medical advisor Dr. Supriya Sharma said Thursday that the vaccine has been proven, in clinical studies, to have “strong” immune response to the original coronavirus that causes COVID-19 and B.A.1 – the original Omicron subvariant.
