At a World Health Organization (WHO) briefing on Thursday, WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the number of monkeypox cases reported globally dropped by over 20 per cent in the last week, reversing a month-long trend of rising infections. He added that despite the decline in infections across Europe, cases in the Americas showed the possibility of “intense transmission.”
