For dozens of families in the Peterborough region, going back to school is about more than seat assignments and class schedules.
Instead, it will be a complete cultural immersion of a new reality for some children’s first time in class in Canada, with a new language, and in many cases far away from some of the most important people in their lives.
Jessica Devlin is the Youth & Community Programs Coordinator at New Canadians Centre Peterborough. She tells Teresa Kaszuba what the organization is doing to make that transition just a little easier for these students.
