Quebec’s new language law, Bill 96, faces one of its first, big challenges in front of a judge
Description
August 5, 2022
Lawyers appeared in a Montreal courtroom on Friday to argue for an injunction to stop parts of Bill 96 from going into effect next month. They’re opposed to provisions in Quebec’s new language law that would require certified French translations for contracts.
As Phil Carpenter reports, business groups and individuals argue that’s anti-constitutional, on top of being prohibitively disruptive and expensive
