The city of Longueuil, on the south shore across from Montreal, has requested a permit to organize a controlled crossbow hunt to cull the white-tailed deer population of Parc Michel-Chartrand from 108 animals to 15. This despite earlier promises before the courts that it would await the outcome of legal action before proceeding.
