Yvonne Boyer detailed how Bill S-250, which would outlaw the procedure, tackles the issue of informed consent. Boyer said that while it is important for there to be consequences for those who perform forced sterilizations, “We don’t want to remove the agency of women to be able to consent to a tubal ligation.”
