Large grass fire near Omemee occupies CIty of Kawartha Lakes firefighters for hours

City of Kawartha Lakes firefighters spent several hours battling a large grass fire in a field near Omemee Sunday afternoon.
Emergency crews were called to the property on Old Mill Road near Mount Horeb Road around 1:30 p.m.
Several other stations responded later in the afternoon to help battle the blaze.
On Monday afternoon, Kawartha Lakes Fire and Rescue Services chief Terry Jones say the blaze was a burn that got out control in a wooded area and heavy grass.
The fire spread for about five acres.
Five stations responded to the fire as crews endured hot weather battling the fire, Jones said.
