A home has been destroyed by fire in Port Hope, but thankfully no one was injured.
Late Sunday night, fire and emergency services were called to the scene of a house fire on Lakeshore Road.
The fire began in the backyard, quickly spreading to the deck and into the home.
Most of the roof and interior were destroyed.
A neighbour and police confirmed to Global News that the residence was empty as it had recently been sold, and the new owners had not yet moved in.
Port Hope police closed a section of the road.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
