‘Somewhat’ better understanding between Finland and Turkey as NATO talks begin, Finnish president says

Finnish President Sauli Niinistö said during a news conference in Spain on Tuesday that there was now a "somewhat more mutual understanding between Finland and Turkey,'' as the NATO summit begins. He added that he was neither optimistic nor pessimistic when it comes to the outcome of the ongoing negotiations over Finnish NATO membership, which Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has resisted.
