Rare tornado hits Netherlands coast, kills at least 1 person

A tornado in the south of the Netherlands on Monday killed one person and injured at least 10 others, said regional emergency services officials. Winds in a storm passing through the country at the same time were measured at around 75 kilometres per hour, said the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI). They added tornados are rare in the Netherlands, but more common in summer months.
