Shanghai supermarkets and corner shops were allowed to reopen in some districts on Thursday, after nearly two months of strict lockdowns have been in place across the city of 25 million people. Shanghai reported 338 new locally transmitted infections for Wednesday, the lowest since mid-March and a far cry from the tens of thousands seen at the peak of its outbreak in April.
