Canada introduces new rules to regulate non-restricted firearms, requires businesses to keep records

Public Safety Minister Marco Mendicino introduced new rules on Wednesday that will help the government better regulate non-restricted firearms. Under the new rules, businesses will be required to confirm a purchaser’s identity and validate their license with the registrar of firearms and obtain a reference number from the registrar in order to move forward with the sale. Mendicino says businesses will also be required to keep sales and inventory records.
