2 ministers were warned about staff shortage at CHSLD Herron during first wave of COVID-19
Description
April 5, 2022
New revelations about the CHSLD Herron have Quebec health authorities in the hot seat. Dozens of seniors died at the long-term care facility in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, some were malnourished and died of dehydration.
An email obtained by Radio-Canada suggests that both the health minister at the time, Danielle McCann and the minister responsible for seniors, Marguerite Blais, were aware of problems at the Herron earlier than they had admitted to. As Gloria Henriquez reports, the revelations have sparked more calls for a public inquiry.
