AFN Regional Chief says Pope Francis’ apology ‘long overdue’ but more needs to be done

Assembly of First Nations Regional Chief Gerald Antoine said Friday in Rome that the apology by Pope Francis for residential schools was “long overdue,” but said they were taking it as a “gesture of good faith” that the Pope would also visit and apologize on Indigenous lands as well.
