Last week Calgary police and bylaw officers initiated ‘Operation East Side’ and moved in to dismantle a homeless encampment that was overcome with crime. Some people were arrested, a handful were housed. Many will continue to sleep rough on the streets. As Jill Croteau reports, those on the front lines say the problem of addiction and homelessness is in a state of crisis.
