The Nova Scotia government announced its five-year highway plan Tuesday, detailing how almost half-a-billion dollars will be spent on highways, roads and bridges. A significant part of the tab is being picked up by Ottawa to help with twinning projects. And a local fire chief knows a deadly stretch of one of those of highways all too well.
