Lt.-Gen. Jennie Carignan said on Thursday she was “touched” by Monday’s historic apology from Canada’s Defence Minister Anita Anand, Chief of the Defence Staff Gen. Wayne Eyre and Jody Thomas, deputy minister of the Department of National Defence for survivors and victims of military sexual misconduct. Carignan said the apology was “a small step towards the future” and “a small step towards the healing process that we have to engage in as an institution.”
