Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam said Friday that although Canada is experiencing an uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases heading in to the holidays, vaccines have blunted the resurgence. However, if Omicron takes hold it could outpace Delta as the dominant strain, further driving infections up.
