Dramatic rescue attempt as car hovers near edge of Niagara Falls

Police tell Global News they were alerted by witnesses reporting a sedan “floating down” the Niagara river not far from Goat Island just before noon on Wednesday. A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter and a rescue swimmer were seen making a dramatic rescue attempt as the car rested on rocks just shy of the falls. The occupant of the car, a female, was later confirmed to have died according to New York State Park Police.
