Aung San Suu Kyi sentenced to jail for breaching COVID-19 restrictions, state TV reports

Former Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi was sentenced to jail on Monday after being found guilty on charges of incitement and breaching COVID-19 restrictions, Myanmar state TV reported. International bodies and human rights advocates have called it a “sham trial” and the charges “ridiculous.” According to later reports, Suu Kyi’s four year jail term was reduced to two years after a partial pardon.
