Canada's chief medical officer of health Dr. Theresa Tam spoke Friday about the new COVID-19 "Omicron" variant first detected in South Africa. She said that labs across the country have been alerted to its existence and searched for possible detections, but so far there are no indications of the variant's presence in Canada.
