Health Canada has updated its labels for the AstraZeneca and the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines to add immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) as a potential side-effect. The autoimmune condition, which can cause easy or excessive bruising and bleeding, has been reported in very rare cases internationally after receiving the vaccines.
