Alberta’s Siksika First Nation is paying tribute to residential school survivors and victims with a Canada Day vigil. It’s also begun searching for unmarked graves, using the same ground-penetrating radar that led to recent discoveries at former residential school sites in B.C. and Saskatchewan. Heather Yourex-West spoke with a survivor about the dark history pulling focus from typical Canada Day celebrations.
