Canadian ISIS fighters detained in Syria left in legal limbo
Two years since the so-called Islamic State was defeated in Syria, thousands of ISIS foreign fighters, along with their wives and children, remain in legal limbo. Many are held in custody in Kurdish detention camps in northeastern Syria, including a number of Canadians. The Canadian government has so far refused to repatriate them to face charges in Canada – and the RCMP says it’s too dangerous to travel to Syria to interview them.
