Explaining violence does not mean excusing violent behaviour

Mount Allison University sociology professor Ardath Whynacht says understanding the reasons that led to mass killings does not excuse the violence or take away from a perpetrator’s responsibility for their crimes. It can, however, help prevent future crime.
