Indigenous Services minister says Ottawa must work with communities to get data on water-related health outcomes

Asked about data on water-related health problems on First Nations and what is being done to learn more on impacts, Indigenous Services Minister Marc Miller stressed that while he acknowledges they need data in order to work on solutions, they cannot impose data gathering on Indigenous communities. He said they need to work in partnership with leaders in order to work to obtain data. The question comes following a series produced by a consortium of media outlets, including Global News and APTN News, led by the Institute for Investigative Journalism, in collaboration with journalism students at universities across the country.
