Former South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg was sworn in as the first openly gay U.S. Cabinet secretary by Vice President Kamala Harris. Buttigieg was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on Tuesday on an 86-13 vote to head the U.S. Transportation Department.
