Coronavirus: Ontario auditor general says COVID-19 response ‘hampered’ by command, advisory structure

Ontario Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk on Wednesday said her office’s report on the province’s COVID-19 response found that it was “hampered” by a “cumbersome command and advisory structure.” She said the health command table to provide advice grew “larger and more complex” while it should have been “dominated by public health experts.” The command table eventually ballooned to 500 people. Lysyk said other provinces have made better decisions faster in areas such as testing and long-term care, compared to Ontario.
