Banning ranked ballots and what it means for voters

Within the last week the Ontario government has introduced proposed changes to the Election Act which would ban ranked ballots from municipal elections.
It’s a system that’s used by some provincial municipalities like London, and something larger cities like Toronto have considered.
Advocates for ranked ballots say it’s a way of voting that leads to a more diverse, cooperative government and kinder campaigns.
Trent University professor David Sheinin was on Global News Morning Peterborough Tuesday to discuss the issue, and what it means for voters.
