Drive-by parade celebrates 105th birthday for City of Kawartha Lakes woman
Description
October 19, 2020
A birthday drive-by parade was held Sunday to celebrate the upcoming 105th birthday of the City of Kawartha Lakes resident.
Rose Helliwell will turn 105-years-old on Tuesday.
On Sunday afternoon, family, friends, community organizations, Kawartha Lakes firefighters and OPP drove around Kawartha Lakes Retirement Residence in Bobcaygeon to wish her well.
As for the secret to her longevity: Keep busy.
"The busier you are and the more things you're into it and interested, the more likely you are to live longer," she said.
She says she's disappointed she has to celebrate her birthday amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"There's not a darn thing I can do about it," she quipped.
