World leaders held an international pledging conference on Monday – without the United States – to raise at least 7.5 billion euros ($8.2 billion) for research into a possible vaccine and treatments for the coronavirus after countries promised a unified response. Canada has pledged $850 million to bolster international efforts to develop a COVID-19 vaccine and treatment, as well as aid for developing countries.
