Dr. Eileen de Villa, Toronto’s medical officer of health, said on Friday that Ontario’s plan to expand COVID-19 testing, particularly in long-term care homes and shelters, is now underway. She added that the city should expect to see an increase in the number of confirmed cases, especially in these settings. She also said that the more information available on COVID-19, especially in vulnerable communities, “the better we’re equipped to respond and direct our actions.”
