U.K. business secretary Alok Sharma announced on Friday that a total of 14,576 people have died of COVID-19 in the U.K. as of April 17, which is an increase of 847 fatalities since the day before. He said that a total of 438,991 people in the U.K. have now been tested for the novel coronavirus, and that includes the 21,328 tests carried out on Thursday alone. He also announced 5,599 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of cases to 108,662. In the U.K., currently 8,978 people are hospitalized due to COVID-19.
