Less than a week after suspending his own campaign to become the Democratic presidential nominee, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders joined former vice president and presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden on Monday to ask Americans of both parties and independent voters to support Biden. The support from Biden’s former main competitor comes much earlier in the party’s race compared to 2016, where Sanders did not give his support to then presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton until two weeks before the party convention. Biden thanked Sanders and said he needs Sanders not just to win the presidency, “but to govern.”
