Coronavirus outbreak: Canada nears 300 deaths, more than 15,000 cases

Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam confirmed there were 293 deaths from COVID-19 as of Monday, with 15,822 cases. She also advised that while long-term care facilities are of concern, there were people even as young as in their 20s dying from the disease, stressing “no one can predict when critical illness will strike.” Tam said that B.C. reporting a lower number of cases this week has been encouraging, showing that collective action can slow the spread, but to not relax efforts.
