Lawyer says refugee judge violated guidelines in a ‘shocking’ way

Immigration lawyer Talia Joundi says a Canadian refugee judge violated guidelines set out for how to handle cases involving sexual assault and domestic abuse by asking questions about why a woman’s husband wouldn’t “just kill” her instead of beating her for years. The judge rejected the claim, saying the woman was not a credible witness and that she omitted important information about her case.
