Upcycling helps divert clothing waste from landfills

Green entrepreneur and environmental advocate Jessica Correa has just returned from a Random Acts of Green national tour. We spoke with her today about simple steps for diverting one of the biggest salvageable elements in our landfills: textiles (clothing). Is is Waste Reduction Week in Canada (Oct 21-26) and one of the theme days for waste reduction is taking a second (and third and fourth) look at clothing before you toss it in the trash. In the modern day of “fast fashion” one study suggests people are tossing out 5 times as much clothing as they once did.
