Alaska is shaken by hundreds of earthquakes each year, and many are hardly noticed. But the earthquake that hit Anchorage on Friday got everyone’s attention. Damage was widespread to buildings, homes, and roads. As Eric Sorensen reports, a powerful quake from decades ago has led to safer buildings that mostly withstood Friday’s jolt.
