Christie’s auction house has just sold an artwork produced by artificial intelligence. A.I. art, as it’s known, has existed on the fringes of the art world for the past few years, but it’s now entering the mainstream. And as Jeff Semple reports, it’s sparking plenty of questions and controversy.
