A California man spent nearly 40 years on the Golden State Killer cases, first as a police sergeant, then a prosecutor and finally a judge. Jerry Bakarich retired in 2009, unable to solve and close that one agonizing case. That was until early Wednesday morning, when Bakarich got a call from his daughter Catherine, who is now a deputy with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.
