What it’s really like to do the Polar Plunge

What would make jumping into a frozen Ontario lake , in February, a ‘good idea’ ? A charity of choice and a professional back-up crew to get you out of the water. Aly Bell realized she could honour both her grandmothers by raising funds for The Alzheimer Society as well as for the BEL Rotary Polar Plunge host organizers, and that was enough to get her to sign up. 73 others would join her Saturday, Feb 4th, with their own charities of choice.
How much do you date to know about jumping in the lake BEFORE you jump, even if it IS for charity? When not volunteering, the 24-year-old Bell is an Account Manager for CHEX/WOLF/FRESH in Peterborough. She was accompanied on the big jump by her 14-year-old sister. The 74 jumpers raised $28,000.
