A freight train plunged into the Tolten River after the Pitrufquen Railroad Bridge in southern Chile collapsed on Thursday, August 18. Chilean TV station 24 Horas reported six carriages carrying sodium hydroxide, chlorate and oil had fallen into the river but it was unclear if any chemicals had leaked into the water.
