The European Union and United States say Turkey must respect democracy and human rights in its response to a failed coup. EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said rule of law must prevail in Turkey at a time when the government is rounding up suspects. Mogherini spoke on Monday at a joint news conference with US Secretary of State John Kerry, after Kerry met the bloc’s 28 foreign ministers.
